Disaster Management Training

18th May, 2014 – VIN has conducted Education and people awareness program on risk and disaster management with some international volunteers, Danish as well as local volunteers. The project was placed in the community of Jitpurphedi VDC; 11km northeast of Kathmandu.VIN conducted the education program about the earthquake, landslide and fire management in the community to give some knowledge about the preventive measures. VIN has   organized these programs in Athmail, Galchhi/Thulagaun, Panchmane, Ghitalgaun, Phedi, JItpur, Ramghat, Tinpiple, Devisthan, Dandagaun, Kisandol, Chogaun & Khawalkot, the areas of Jitpurphedi.
 
The main objective of this training was to give more knowledge about the safety and preventive measures of earthquake, landslide, and fire. Disaster management training was conducted from Monday to Thursday, two hours per day. The groups were divided into two and each group had three members and one local volunteer for translating their class which helped people to understand.The group of the International volunteers gave a lesson about the ideas in earthquake, landslide and fire and the local volunteers helped by translating. The main focus of this class was how to manage disaster. They explained this topic by discussing, interacting and demonstrating.International volunteers taught a lesson in disaster management. The main focus of this class was about the causes, effect, signals and preventions of earthquake, fire and landslide. From this training, community people became well known about disaster management. They liked this type of class because it is directly related to human life. They did more interaction with trainers and gave thanks to Danish volunteers, local volunteers and VIN.
 
Nearly, about 200 community people are directly affected from this class. They became very happy because they got to learn about these things.
