Job Overview:

VIN, in collaboration with WeTomorrow is proud to announce the establishment of libraries at Narayansthan Secondary School and NaraTika Community Learning Center, Nishankhe Okhaldunga, Nepal. This initiative aims to provide a holistic learning environment for children aged 6 to 10 and 10+ years. As the Librarian cum Children’s Learning Activity Facilitator, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating interactive learning experiences using both physical and online resources.

Responsibilities:

Library Section:

  • Foster a creative, flexible, and caring environment for children.
  • Implement innovative techniques to make reading and learning fun.
  • Maintain library records and ensured timely updates.
  • Educate users on information search using library databases.
  • Manage the check-out process for books and other resources.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the library space.
  • Stay updated on information management trends and practices.
  • Catalogue library resources for easy accessibility.

Children’s Learning Activity Facilitation:

  • Develop hands-on activities to enhance children’s knowledge and skills.
  • Conduct life skills (like leadership, communication) development
  • Facilitate English language learning activities.
  • Conduct e-learning classes to develop computer and internet skills.
  • Track student progress and provide the necessary support.
  • Identify and address learning disabilities.
  • Educate parents and community members about library resources.
  • Organise fundraising activities for library sustainability.
  • Train local community members to run library activities.

Requirements:

  • Master’s in Education/Humanities or Library Science preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a public library.
  • Excellent IT skills and familiarity with library databases.
  • Passion for serving rural communities.
  • Interest in literature and working with children.
  • Commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to develop interactive lesson plans.
  • Outstanding organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in English and Nepali languages.

Location & Benefits:

  • Working Station: Narayansthan & Nishankhe, Okhaldhunga
  • Starting Date: May 15, 2024
  • Duration: Initially two years, extendable
  • Salary & Benefits: Rs. 60,000 including facilities
